CHAPTER 5: Midnight Hospital Talks

It was past midnight.

The hospital was quiet, lights dimmed.

Ananya found Aarav standing near the window, staring at the city.

“Couldn’t sleep again?” she asked.

He shook his head. “Too many thoughts.”

She sat beside him, leaving space between them.

“People think I’m strong,” he said suddenly. “But they don’t see the cost.”

Ananya listened. Didn’t interrupt.

“I built everything alone,” he continued. “And somewhere… I forgot how to live.”

She looked at him softly.

“You didn’t forget,” she said. “You just never had time.”

Their eyes met.

Something warm settled between them—quiet, fragile.

“Why do you care so much?” he asked.

She smiled sadly. “Because no one cared when I needed it.”

The silence that followed was heavy—but comforting.

For the first time, Aarav didn’t feel alone...
